Why we use it, and our lawful basis

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether our interest is overridden by your rights, and concluded it is not — replying to a business enquiry you sent us is what you would reasonably expect.

We do not send marketing emails and we do not operate a mailing list. If that changes, we will ask for your consent first and you will be able to withdraw it at any time.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:

  • Hostinger International Ltd — website hosting and the enquiry form

  • Our email provider — correspondence

  • Our accountant and accounting software — invoicing and statutory records

Each acts on our instructions under a contract. We may also disclose data where we are legally required to, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

Where your data is held

Our providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are protected by UK adequacy regulations or by the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, as appropriate.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to work — up to 12 months, then deleted

  • Client records and correspondence — for the engagement and 6 years afterwards, to cover contractual and limitation periods

  • Financial records — 6 years from the end of the relevant accounting period, as required by HMRC

  • Server logs — as set by our hosting provider, typically a short rolling window

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you

  • Rectify it if it is inaccurate or incomplete

  • Erase it, in certain circumstances

  • Restrict how we process it, in certain circumstances

  • Object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests

  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format, where the processing is based on consent or contract and carried out by automated means

  • Withdraw consent, where consent is the basis we rely on

To exercise any of these, email info@amadou.co.uk. We will respond within one month. There is no charge unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first — most things are quicker to fix directly. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office:

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including access controls, encrypted connections and limiting who can see what. No internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
